If it would happen to you. 😲
On balmy summer and mild winter evenings you hear again and again the special story from your padre and your nonno and they heard it again from their nonni.
In the Sacro Bosco (sacred forest) near Bomarzo there must be a special Etruscan monument, a pyramid.
Exciting evenings with stories about an ancient history full of passion. Salvatore enjoyed these evenings as a child.
In 2008 he decided to search for this pyramid.
He was living in South Tyrol at the time, but during a holiday in his hometown Bomarzo, armed with machete and other tools, he went looking for the pyramid in the Sacro Bosco.
He made his way through the thick Mediterranean vegetation and eventually hit the pyramid.
Completely occupied by weeds and other green usurers.
Blood, sweat and tears (the latter also of happines) when he found the pyramid and finally cleaned it.
The pyramid is very impressive and is located in the middle of the forest 🌳.
Via narrow winding paths and climbing over rocks you suddenly come face to face with this Etruscan jewel. Every time I am surprised when I take this walk and arrive at the pyramid.

In the past few weeks I have made the walk several times and it is ready to be included in my Etruscans walking week.
A little Pasolini (Torre di Chia) there.
Along waterfalls and through ravines.
An old water mill and basins where flax was kept in the water. An old church ruin with tombs, a fascinating and also moving place with clear traces of active life including a basin where grapes were processed.
Just an enchanting hiking day in a fascinating hiking week in Northern Lazio.
