We are a day too early, yes I know because International Women’s Day is of course on March 8, but today we will already celebrate the woman’s feast together, la Festa della Donna .
On International Women’s Day ( la Festa della Donna ) March 8, the women in Italy give each other a bunch of mimosa. Not only do the women give each other mimosa, they also get it from their husband, partner or friend.
The beautiful little delicate flowers of the mimosa symbolize the woman herself and the mutual solidarity among women. They are the first to flower after a cold winter.
The restaurants in Bolsena and other Italian cities are our domain this evening, the domain of the women. With a special la Festa della Donna menu and often live music too.
Solidarity with women in the Scampia neighborhood of Naples.
La festa della donna is a journey of discovery online for passionate gourmets and bon vivants with a passion for Italian vegetarian cuisine. With this masterclass we support the special women’s project of Circa Celotto in Naples. She has set up a fitness school (le Ali di Scampia) especially for “vulnerable” women in the Scampia district. Women in an often hopeless situation who can now meet each other and exercise at her fitness school. Here they find mutual support and strengthen mutual social contacts. 600 women are already participating in the project. Awesome! From every registration for the masterclass, € 5 goes to her project. If you want to give more, that is of course always possible.

Traveling to Bolsena and experiencing our great Italian cooking holiday together is not yet possible. So we bring the traditional and vegetarian cuisine from the Alta Tuscia in Northern Lazio to your kitchen online.

What are we going to cook?
First we are going to make scroppino, an aperitif to toast together. I love it. A delicious fennel salad as an appetizer. Then we make gnocchi with gorgonzola, pears and walnuts according to the nonna recipe. For dessert we go wild, because we are going to bake a mimosa cake, to lick your fingers so good. Cooking takes 2.5 hours.
