During the ceramics holiday you will receive workshops Raku or Bucchero by Mara. She is Italian and proud of her Etruscan heritage. Mara was born in Sorana a small town, beautifully situated on a plateau of tuff. When Mara was 18 years old, she started a ceramic shop and experimented with making “Bucchero”. Until she got to know the Japanese technique “Raku”. As a result, she went to study in Venice, Turin and Amsterdam. To eventually return to its roots: “the land of the Etruscans”! She missed the horizon, the landscape with its beautiful views, which she needs to find inspiration.

During the 10-day workshop you will spend the night at an agriturismo based on a double room in a shared apartment. If you prefer to spend the night elsewhere, we can arrange that for you.

Mara’s studio is located in a beautiful old converted stable, on the grounds of an agriturismo. Her workshops last 10 days. The first day Mara will introduce you to the area while walking and she will explain about Raku, the old Japanese technique and Bucchero, the old Etruscan technique. The basis for these techniques is the same, during the week you will choose which of the two techniques you want to continue working with. Classes are every morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The first and last day there is also class in the afternoon.
